hi guys,
interested in putting 21" for my E65. was wondering if anyone has done it, is the ride any good after or does it feel like hard like a sports car?

21" ... well if you end up getting them, make sure your brakes could handle the increase in weight.

as for low profiles wearing out faster: not true. but if you get ultra summer low profile tires or such with low wear ratings, yea you'll go through them pretty fast.

hm, my bad, i meant you could get 20" from BMW for the 7. well, i was just looking at rims for the 7, and there arent many designs where 20" or below dont look weedy on the car.

at the moment im running on standard 18s, how much diff in weight can it be if i moved to 21. will it be obvious?

.....no the 7s come with 18" wheels stock. and umm 21"..............
19" are stock, the runflat option is a 18" wheel. And there are multiple options thru BMW for 20"

18" Runflat option.

20" Style 32 BMW

When i went from the 18" runflats to the 20" style 32 I noticed a small tradeoff in acceleration, but then with 438hp it was not that noticable. I would put the weight difference at about 5-8 pounds per wheel.

I have 20" wheels on my FX and the ride is pretty harsh. I would imagine the only concern about getting larger wheels would be the tires not offering enough cushion against larger impacts from potholes.

I actually saw 22s on a 760Li. the guy cracked one of the rims ($2K each) when he hit a pothole... also, he couldnt turn the wheel all the way, b/c the tire hit the wheel well.

does anyone know how heavy each of the standard 18" rims weigh?
also, is there a website where they tell you how heavy each rim weighs? i'd like to be able to pick out the lightest possible wheel next time, so as not to weigh my car down.. probably gonna stick to 19s since they seem to be the designed size for the 7.
