7 Series Steering Issue

I'm a BMW newbie, just purchased a 2000 740il.

The ABS and service lights are lit: My mechanic says the car scans show a code 97 error: steering angle sensor fault. I was told that there might have been a recall or something like that regarding the DSC module (p/n 34 52 6 755 742).
Has anyone experience this issue?

I appreciate the web site, the info there is amazing. Unfortunately the only link that doesn't work is the "recall information"... (Recall and TSB info for 2000 740iL)

u need to recliberate the steering angle sensor, if that does 'nt work then u need to replace it
