front & rear parking sensor query

I hope someone can help...

I have a UK model BMW 735i (Sept 2000). Both the rear and front parking sensors don't appear to be working. However, the passenger mirror moves when you go into reverse, and the parking sensor button does flash, but just a long beep which according to the manaul means there is a fault.

No beeping when I get near a car both front and back. There is a fuse (No 64) which I have to assume is working because the light flashes.

Does anyone have a clue what it could be??

i´m not familiar with the PDC on the new 7. but does the light indicate an approaching obstacle with difference frequencies of blinking? if so the sensors in general seem okay. i assume that, if sensors are okay, there is fault in the PDC itself or maybe a loose cable to the speaker. not at the speakers end as the radio works (?) but at the PDC unit.

As far as I am aware, the light doesn't blink any faster or slower, so you could be right it may be the PDC unit. Yes the radio does work.

Does this mean I may have to let BMW take a look??

that´s what i would say. you mustn´t leave it there for fixing right away. maybe they know the problem and can tell you more about it. before you run into high costs you might wanna check another dealer, too. sometimes one comes up with "oh that´s major...we have to change your car now" answers to suck the money out of you.
