i have an automatic 318ic but the rpms have to be around 5000 before it will shift. I don't think this is normal but figure i'd ask. what (if anything) is going on and how can i fix it.

also, the climate control is stuck at -35 degress F. I read the other post about the climate control but this one shuts on and off it just always shows the wrong/same temp. no matter what.

thank you in advance guys![thumb]

The shifting problem could be because of the kick down switch. It sounds like it's stuck in the "on" position. A long time ago my dad drove a 7 series and after he floored it, the switch got stuck and the symptoms are very similar. You have to drive at or close to 5000rpm all the time, right? Find the "button" under the gas pedal and try pressing it down, if it doesn't go at all, then that's your problem. You have 2 ways out of this, replace the switch or if you don't use that option you can just disconect the switch and live without it (don't forget to do something with the wires so they don't touch each other or anything else). You can also try to get the button moving again but the chances are, it's going to get stuck again. It could also be the computer since you are also have problems with the climate control.

i agree with both parts, only that i don't think that the motor and gear box control units are one and the same.

for the a/c, is the air cold enough to match -35? if not, could be that the display is just gone. not that it would make your problem easier, but you could at least set your temperature to a level you find convenient.
