recently puchased a 740iL and the nav screen is black. the radio works ,and checked the fuses which are good is there something im missing too check

How about the diskette in the trunk with the information?? You may have to purchase one from the dealership. Or the unit may need to be replaced. When I had a 01 740iL I had a reconditioned one replaced for $1000.00.
