Hello, i am going to buy an E32 7 series soon, but i am not sure weather to go for the 740 or the 750. I would imagine that a V12 engine that is 16 years old may have a few problems, and may be prone to breaking down.

I am looking at cars with between 80 and 140 thousand kilometres, and my main concern is that it is reliable. Which is the better engine out of the v8 or the v12?

Also, what problems to the E32's have, and what should i look out for when buying one.

Thanks guys, i appreciate your time.

I have an E32, 91 750iL. Great road car, smooth, comfortable and quite. I get between 20 and 21 mpg on the highway with the cruise set at about 75 MPH. Mine has about 103k on her now and runs like a top. The bad side of the V12, and I do not know about the V8 is that repairs if needed are expensive. The spark plug wire set for the 750 is $600.00! If a DK motor (throttle control) and there are two of them, go bad they are about $800.00 each. The car has two air filters, two fuel filters, two caps and two rotors.

Some of the 7's develop "electrical gremlins" where guages quit, or headrests move on their own. The left door lock mount cracks and needs replaced or repaired. I did this fix on mine. It took me about 1/2 day in my garage and some internet help.

There is a web page, E32 repairs, I will look for it and post a link. I think if you find one with lower mileage and one that has been taken care of you will do well. They sell below book in most cases.
