Any luck?

Did you ever find this out? I want to know the same thing. At the suggestion from someone in another forum I tried something called 3M Imperial Glaze (?) with some results but I think the scratches I have are too significant for that to totally work. May have to go with something more abrasive....

Anything you try work?

I had a 95 740 that had bad scratches and did not find this article in time. I tried to refinish the wood, but I would not recommend it. BMW uses an epoxy resin to finish the wood and it is very difficult to refinish. You can buy it at Home Depot or Lowe's. I would try the 3M stuff with a low speed polisher first

Yep - I've looked for the best way to do this even more and have learned the hard way that it is a bad idea to use anything that has any abrasiveness. My guess is that you probably have to live with it and/or replace it.

I'd be interested in knowing if anyone has refinished this successfully, OR, if anyone knows a way to buy a replacement, custom or otherwise.

Sure hate to look down and see all those scratches..... [thumbd] [:(!]

Try regular wax. Should fill in the scratches and bring back the shine.
You mean as in furniture wax? I know there is scratch/swirl remover for exterior paint that has dark color in the ingredients to "fill in" and minimize the scratches but is there such a thing like that for this type of wood?
