1996 750IL Engine Failsafe

I currently pressure washed the engine in my 750il. The engine was turned on and I waited an hour so it fully dried. Shortly after now I've been getting a Engine Failsafe warning on my dashes on board computer. Does anyone know a fix for this as far as resetting anything or replacing something.

Why would you wash the engine? Maybe after a few years if it looked dirty I would take a wet/cleaning solvent rag and go wipe whatever looked dirty. I wouldn't pressure wash the engine; too many wires and components I wouldn't want getting wet......

You could go to a shop and have them reset it. Or you can disconnect the battery for over 30 minutes... that supposedly resets it too. Washing the engine...

I have pressure washed every engine I have ever owned and with some simple precautions I have almost never had a problem.

once and awhile it may act up alittle but once the engine/engine bay comes up to temp for awhile any residual water water will cook off.

if the engine is too hot you may crack a resistor on a plug so avoid direct spray onto hot plugs.

the secret is to know what to wash and what to avoid, fill the alternator with water and it may short out but you can blast the outside of the block clean till your blue in the face and never have a problem.

Not a good idea to leave it on, let alone wash one of the most intricate BMW engines ever produced...

the m70 is just a 2.5 inline 6 conected to another 2.5 inline 6 by a common crankshaft and oil valley.

its not any more complicated ,it just has 2 of everything.

the drive by wire,although at the time it was way ahead of its time time today it is common place.
