This is a tire question. I'm driving a 2000 740I sport, front 235 50 18 and rears 255 45 18. I have done the Michelin sport thing and love the ride, grip dependibility but only able to get 25,000 max miles, price installed $1300. I have 123,000 miles on this car so I've got some experience with Tires but...........
Replaced rears with HGT Z4 and got 40K plus. Problem is the HGT Z4 is not offered in the front size. I now have to replace all four again and don't want to mix tread designs between the sport and the HGT Z4 and want more miles than the sport. I've can't find anyone who has tried a different tire on this size car and been able to match the ride with more miles than the Michelin.
Anyone want to share your success story on tires for this beast ?
I'd be willing to buy a tire at half or slightly more than the Michelin price that only gets 20K Miles if it still provided me the ride and acceptable handling.

So far, the Pirelli PZero Nero M+S are by far the best all around performer for my needs. It grips extremely well for an all season both wet and dry. Plus, rated at 400 AA A (best in temp and grip), you have got to get 35K miles at least. Some folks may disagree, but for what I need, there is no other. I have about 1.3K miles riding on them. Check out the TireRack, they have very reasonable reviews from folks. I paid $140 for each (245/45/17). Cant beat that versus $198 for the Michelin Pilot Sport AS.
