No Go Forward Help!!!!!!

Howdy Yall,

I gots transmission probs!
My friend owns a 735i with automatic trans.
He can not drive forward or move in 1-2-3 gears.
He can reverse fine though.
I have not had a chance to look at it yet. I just I might ask
here first just see if it could help me out.

The car has a little idle prob and he says he changed the trans after flushing
it twice.

What could it be?

I spoke with a mechanic a work and he said that the loss of all forward gears could require having the trans. rebuilt. He said this is often a serious problem and involves internal damage and would need to be taken apart to be fully evaluated.
